Our farm |

The Kircherhof is situated above the diocesan town of Brixen (Bressanone) in the middle of the hamlet of St. Leonhard. Our farm, which has listed building status, with its thick walls and its own prison cell, could certainly tell a few tales. It first appears in the records in 1405. Initially, due to the fact that it could be seen from a long distance, the farm was a signal fire site, known as a “Kreidefeuerstelle” in German.

Signal fire sites were used to send messages and warnings in times of war. In linguistic terms, the German name derives from the word Krei or Kri, which means call, cry or shout.
